SDA Bocconi’s research stems from continuous dialogue with reality and is fueled by the interaction between advanced scientific methods and concrete needs. The Laboratories and Monitors are the dynamic environments where research projects on specific topics are developed.
We believe research must not remain confined to academia but act as a driver of transformation. Thanks to the support and active engagement of the organizations that are members of our Labs and Monitors, our research translates into knowledge, models, and solutions that guide companies, institutions, and society in navigating and shaping the future.
Following a matrix structure, SDA Bocconi’s research is organized into Knowledge Platforms, which address strategic and cross-cutting themes, and Ecosystems, which focus on specific sectors.

Le Knowledge Platform di SDA Bocconi affrontano temi strategici e trasversali, rilevanti per imprese e istituzioni. Al loro interno si sviluppano modelli, strumenti e approcci utili a interpretare e gestire i grandi cambiamenti in atto, dalla sostenibilità alla trasformazione tecnologica.
Gli Ecosistemi si concentrano su settori particolarmente rilevanti con l’obiettivo di declinare in modo specifico le conoscenze sviluppate a livello trasversale. Attraverso la collaborazione con gli stakeholder di settore, gli ecosistemi producono evidenze, analisi e soluzioni capaci di rispondere a bisogni reali, favorendo l’applicazione contestualizzata della ricerca.

The Sustainability & Governance Platform focuses on the global challenges surrounding environmental, social, and governance issues, pushing companies, international organizations, and public and governmental institutions to rethink their future.
Technological Transformation & Innovation
The Technological Transformation & Innovation Platform analyzes how technology is shaping the evolution of industries and the various activities within companies.
Value Creation, Measurement & Impact
The Value Creation, Measurement & Impact Platform aims to inspire and guide leaders and organizations by developing knowledge and approaches to understand and manage the evolution of models for value creation, measurement, and communication.

The Arts & Made in Italy Ecosystem coordinates all research initiatives related to symbol-intensive industries and forms of artistic expression, for which Italy stands out globally.

The Health & Life Sciences Ecosystem contributes to the evolution of healthcare systems through rigorous and relevant scientific research, supporting informed policy and management decisions at both national and international levels.
Public Policy & Welfare
The Public Policy & Welfare Ecosystem generates knowledge that supports policymakers and public administrations in promoting the country’s social, environmental, and economic development, and in understanding productivity dynamics and competitiveness challenges.
Sports & Entertainment
The Sports & Entertainment Ecosystem coordinates all initiatives related to the sports industry and its connected sectors, developing partnerships with key players in the sports system and promoting a managerial culture in the international context.

The tailored research activity promoted by SDA Bocconi is oriented toward the client’s needs and concrete objectives, with research projects that support individuals, companies, and institutions in their strategic transformation processes.

Una ricerca applicata di successo è figlia di una solida ricerca esplorativa. I ricercatori di SDA Bocconi si sono aggiudicati numerosi grant competitivi finanziati dalla Commissione Europea e da altri organismi internazionali e nazionali.
